Who is Texas Water Smart:

Texas Water Smart is a public-private partnership of nearly 300 businesses, associations, research organizations and state and local officials are dedicated to promoting voluntary water conservation. Since spring of 2012, the program has been highly effective in raising awareness of ways homeowners and businesses can save water, time and money while maintain healthy outdoor greenspaces that improve the environment, community and property.

Why Texas Water Smart:

Due to the extreme drought in 2010, water supplies were diminishing at an unprecedented rate, and cities and other water suppliers were being forced to implement water-use restrictions that impacted our homes and businesses. Texas Water Smart formed to educate families and businesses about easy and efficient ways to conserve.
Since 2010, rains have increased, but Texans continue to remember our climate is variable and access to water is not guaranteed. Therefore, the Texas Water Smart program continues to support and educate Texans in their effort to voluntarily conserve, especially in their outdoor areas and landscapes.
